Sister Suzanne
Lorentz, OP
Sister Suzanne Lorentz, OP is a Sinsinawa Dominican and has been teaching at the Adult Learning Center since 1997. She has a BA in English from Dominican University in River Forest, IL and an MA in English-Education from the University of Iowa as well as post-graduate work at Marquette University.
She began her teaching career at Edgewood High School, Madison, WI. From there she went to Greenwich, CT, then to Wahlert HS in Dubuque, IA, and back again to Edgewood HS. She came to Milwaukee to be Assistant Principal, then Principal of Dominican HS, Whitefish Bay. When she left Dominican HS, Sister Ann Marie Palmisano, OP, Director of the ALC at that time, invited her to teach an afternoon class at the Adult Learning Center, and thus began a new phase of her teaching career. Although she loved all her years working with high school students, teaching adults—who come of their own choosing—has been a wonderful climax to her profession.
Having grown up in Sioux Falls, SD, S. Suzanne now considers Milwaukee her second home where she enjoys time with her brother and his family as well her Dominican Sisters and many friends and, whenever she chooses, the opportunity to walk to the shores of Lake Michigan.
